Prabhat Company tried a color-processed film 'Sairandhri', which was taken to Germany for printing. But the results were so bad that they were found unfit for viewing.

Cinetone Company fot established in Kolhapur. It created history with a big budget film 'Hunterwali'.

Regal, the first air-conditioned Cinema hall, started in Bombay.

Prabhat Co. shifted its base from Pune to Kolhapur.

Patience Cooper was the top most female artist of the silent cinema. She worked for Madan Theatres. Cooper started as a dancer in Bandmann's musical comedy, a Eurasian troupe; later employed by Madan's Corinthian Stage Co. Cooper played title roles in two major Sisir Bhaduri films, Mohini and Kamale Kamini. She was the first female artist to play double roles in films. She played double roles in Patni Pratap and Kashmiri Sundari.

Hindi and Marathi actress born in Indore as Lalita BAi Hanuman Prasad, in 1916. She acted in few films as an child artist. She married stucnt film maker G P Pawar, who directed most of her later silents and early sound films. She developed her best known persona of the vamp-like, scheming mother in Ramshastri, turning her slightly defective left eye into a trademark. She also played lead roles in many films in early 40s.
