Sohrab Modi
Sohrab began as a Parsi theatre actor with some experience in silent films. He earned quite a reputation as a Shakespearean actor, travelling throughout India with his brother's theatrical company. However, with the advent of the sound film in 1931, theatre was declining. To rescue this dying art, Modi set up the Stage Film Company in 1935. He then founded Minerva Movietone in 1936.
Fearless Nadia
Mary Ann Evans was also known by her stage name Fearless Nadia. She toured India as a theatre artist and began working for Zarko Circus in 1930. She was introduced to Hindi films by Jamshed Wadia who was the founder of Wadia Movietone, the behemoth of stunts and action in 1930s Bombay. Nadia proved a huge hit with the audience
