¤ Indian Film Industry celebrated the golden jubilee of the Indian Talkie (1981).

¤ Death of comedian Maruti (12th March), famous dancer Kukku (30th September), Music director Kanu Roy (20th December), character artist David Abrahim (28th December).

¤ First films in Brijbhasha (Brij Bhoomi) and Malvi (Bhadwa Mata), released (1982).

¤ Naseeruddin Shah married Ratna Pathak (1st April), 60 yrs old Dilip Kumar married Asmaa.

¤ Death of music director C Ramchandra (5th January), lyricist Bharat Vyas (4th July), Music director R C Boral (25th November).

¤ Mrinal Sen's Kharij won special Special Jury Prize at Cannes (1983).

¤ Comedian, Charlie passed away on June 30, 1983 in USA.

¤ First film in Garhwali (Jagwal), released.

¤ Bhanu Athaiya became the first Indian to win an Oscar for costumes designed for Richard Attenborough's Gandhi (1983).

¤ First film in Sanskrit (Aadi Shankracharya) , released, which also won the National award for the best film (1984).

¤ Death of film-maker Sohrab Modi (28th Januray) and actor Nana Palsikar (1984). Death of actor Sajeev Kumar (6th November) and character artist Nitin Sethi (1985).

David Abraham Cheulkar
He debuted in late 30s. He remained a very popular character artist till late late 70s. He's known for his roles in Boot Polish, Satyakam, Gol Maal, Baaton Baaton Mein etc. He acted in over 120 films in his career that lasted for four decades. He was famous as John chacha due to his role in Boot Polish. With song 'Nanhe Munne Bachche Teri Muththi Mein Kya Hai', he will always remain with us. 

David Abraham

Nana Palshikar
Nana started his career with 1935s Dhurandhar and went on to play character roles for the next four decades. He is known for his acts in Do Bigha Zameen, Shree 420, Devdas, Jagte Raho, Anari, Kanoon etc. He won Filmfare award, twice, for the best character role, for the films, Kanoon and Shehar Aur Sapna. He died on June 1, 1984.

Nana Palshikar

Noor Mohammad debuted in 1928. With 1933's Indian Cahrlie, he got his screen name. He became so popular that he got a role in Chandulal Shah's Barrister Wife. He was, probably the first comedian to have a song picturised on him, in the film Thokar, 1939, 'Jab se mili teri khak..'. His career rose to new heights with 1940s Musafir. After the partition he left for Pakistan, but, he came back in 1960. He acted in few films but, later went to USA and died there in '83.
