The song 'Aye Mere Dil Kahin Aur Chal Gham Ki Duniya Se Jee Bhar Gaya..' of this film is counted as one of Talat Mahmood's everlasting songs. This song was composed by the composer duo Shankar-Jaikishan. Talat sang this song on a fast track whereas Lata Mangeshkar sang the same song at a much slower pace. But the agony in their voices is well manifested in the song. The harmonium played by Balsara, an instrumentalist, in this composition enchants the listeners. In the film SJ's hindi version of Marathi Lavani was highly applauded. The song was sung by Lata and was picturised on Usha Kiron.
The film had four songs in Lata's voice - 'Preet YE Kaisi Bol Ri..', 'Laage Jab Se Nain..', 'Kaahe Ko Der Lagaye Ri..' and 'Aye Mere Dil Kahin Aur Chal..'. After Daag, Talat started getting melodious compositions of Shankar-Jaikishan. Apart from 'Aye Mere Dil..', he sang two more songs in Daag: 'Hum Dard KE Maaron Ka..' and 'Chand Ek Bewa Ki Choodi Ki Tarah Toota Hua..'.
Daag became immortal because of Dilip Kumar's performance on the screen and Talat's song 'Aye Mere Dil Kahin Aur Chal..' on the soundtrack. |
