After making a flop like Shohrat, Amarnath made Baazar which was based on the same story line. But, surprisingly the film was a hit and all this happened because of the magis of Shyam Sundar's distinguished music. Shyam Sundar's composition 'Saajan Ki Galiyan Chhod Chale..' in the film Baazar was a super success. Just like 'Saajan Ki Galiyan..', songs like 'Basale Apni Nigahon Me..' and 'Bhoolne Wale Ye Duniya..' sung by Lata Mangeshkar were other hit numbers. 'Apni Nazar Se Door Hain..' was a Lata-Rafi duet. There was also a quawwali in the film, sung by Lata, Rajkumari and chorus - 'Zara Sun Lo Ham Apne Pyar Ka Afsana..'. The rest of the songs of the film were: 'Raam Kasam Main Ghunghat Ke Pat..' (Rajkumar-Satish), 'Chhala De Ja Nishani..' (Rafi-Shamshad-Satish), 'Pi Aaye Aa Kar Chal Diye..' (Durrani-Shamshad).
The film added five solo songs to Mohd. Rafi's account. 'Shaheedon Tumko Mera..', 'Watan Ki Raah Me..', 'Mere Bhagwan Tum Mujhko..', 'Ye Duniya Hai Baazar..' and 'O Janewale Chand Zara..'. In all, music of Baazar was a hit. But all the songs were not composed by Shyam Sundar because of some altercation with Amarnath, Shyam Sundar left the film incomplete. So, the remaining work was completed by Husnlal-Bhagatram. They even composed three songs in the film, but Shyam Sundar walked away with the entire credit. |
